With the latest revival of the Ford Ranger now available at our Mississauga dealership, all eyes are now on the return of the company’s most coveted off-road vehicle: the 2020 Bronco. Ford still hasn’t revealed much since its announcement back in 2017 during the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, and they’ve remained hush since. For the last two years, we’ve relied heavily on rumours and speculation across the web from fairly reliable automotive sources to give us the inside scoop on what’s next for the Bronco’s inevitable comeback in 2020. Take a look below for some of the info we’ve gathered over the last two years!
Speaking of the Ranger, sources have speculated that the 2020 Bronco will borrow a lot of its foundation from the redesigned pickup. On a Road & Track article in 2017, Ford global operations president Joe Hinrichs stated that the Bronco and the Ranger would share a similar platform. So what could this mean? It could mean a lot, such as sharing the same suspension, same fully-boxed frame, same drivetrain, who knows? It’s almost like they’re teasing us to get excited about its release or something . . .
While Ford has implemented the 10-speed automatic transmission into almost every model available right now, some signs say it’s not going in the Bronco. It’s been reported back in 2018 that the 2020 Bronco might actually pair its engine with a seven-speed manual transmission. We’re still not certain about the validity of this news, but we’re still banking on that 10-speed automatic getting added onto the Bronco in our opinion.
EcoBoost Engine (Obviously)
It wouldn’t be a Ford vehicle without the company’s best engine. Most of the recent news points toward the 2020 Bronco implementing a 2.7L EcoBoost V6 engine as a drivetrain option. For reference, the current Ford Edge ST has that exact same engine and can produce up to 330 horsepower and 385 lb-ft of torque, while the F-150 fares with 325 horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque. We can only imagine the kind of power it can push out of the new Bronco.
